PROJECT GENESIS
Scientific creature genetics and sanctuary simulation.
Interactive worlds built around life, evolution, and discovery.
Bonefauna Studios is an independent game studio exploring genetics, ecosystems, extinction, emergence, and the strange possibilities of life through simulation-driven games.
Studio Manifesto
Rather than building worlds entirely by hand, Bonefauna explores what happens when creatures, genetics, environments, and systems interact.
Our games are designed around simulation and discovery: populations change, traits are inherited, ecosystems develop, and unexpected outcomes become part of the experience.
The goal isn't to simulate nature perfectly. It's to make systems deep enough that players can discover things we didn't explicitly script.
Public Specimen Records
Active experiments, prototypes, and playable records currently in development.
Scientific creature genetics and sanctuary simulation.
Realistic canid breeding and genetics simulation exploring inheritance, fertility, relatedness, and biological plausibility.
Microscopic ecosystem simulation exploring microbial life, nutrient availability, population interaction, and emergent behavior.
A small interactive archive experience built around creature discovery, specimen recovery, classification, lore, and the evolving identity of Bonefauna Studios.
Core Architecture
Inheritance, mutation, variation, relatedness, and trait expression.
Populations, resources, environments, and interactions.
Creatures and outcomes emerge through play rather than existing only as collectibles.
Underlying systems continue operating beyond individual scripted events.
Engineering Methodology
Bonefauna is being built around a development model where AI is an active engineering partner rather than a separate productivity tool.
Exploring and maintaining complex game systems and technical designs.
Building and iterating on gameplay systems, tools, interfaces, and infrastructure.
Working through scientific, historical, biological, and technical material.
Maintaining structured project knowledge, specifications, roadmaps, and development records.
Analyzing existing code, identifying problems, proposing solutions, and implementing changes across a growing codebase.
The human role remains essential: defining the vision, deciding what belongs in the games, evaluating results, and directing the systems we build.
THE EXPERIMENT IS SIMPLE:
How far can a very small studio go when AI becomes part of the development team?
Studio Vision
Bonefauna began with a simple question:
"What happens when games treat living systems as the foundation rather than the decoration?"
That question leads in different directions—from breeding and genetics to ecosystems, microorganisms, extinction, historical systems, and discovery.
Each project is its own game.
Together, they form a broader exploration of simulated life.
Interactive Specimen Recovery
Some things are easier to understand when they're discovered.
Enter the archive to recover specimens, explore classifications, uncover fragments, and experience the earliest public piece of the Bonefauna world.
Enter Bonefauna: OriginsSTUDIO STATUS
"Bonefauna is an independent studio currently building prototypes and foundational systems while exploring how far a small, AI-native team can push simulation-heavy game development."
Public Repositories
Bonefauna's public repositories document the experiments, prototypes, systems, and tools behind the studio.
